Northwest Indiana Old Boys - Men's Soccer


The men's soccer organization is known as Northwest Indiana Old Boys FC (NW Old Boys FC). Their web address is www.nwiobfc.com.

Rules of Operation

I. Teams: No player will be allowed to play without proper uniform, including a player number on back of jersey. Teams can have from 14-24 registered player, with a maximum of 18 dressing for a game.

II. Players: All are to be registered withUSSF/ISSA. If a player does not have his player card at game time, he will not be allowed to play in that league game. Players must be at least 30 years of age to play on the "over 30 team" and at least 16 to play on any "open team". Valid cards will have a green sticker for this 2001 season. The team name on the card shall be the team for which he is playing.

III. Games: Games shall start on time with 15 minute grace periods. Teams need at least 7 players to start/continue. Games are 2 x 45 minutes. Games played for at least one half are official games.

IV. Rules: Follow FIFA rules except where noted otherwise.

  • Free substitution with a maximum of 3 players at a time (on own teams throw-in or on any corner kick; on any goal kick, goal or second half restart; for injury, only injured player and one sub for opposing team).
  • Any player recieving a yellow card must be replaced and cannot reenter the game until a stoppage has occured.
  • No metal tipped cleats allowed.
  • Casts must be covered by foam padding.
  • Braces will have no parts.
  • Shin guards are required.
  • A player slinding on the ground to attack a ball, in the proximity of an opponent, shall be whistled for dangerous play and the play shall be restarted with an indirect kick. If the offence is deemed reckless a yellow card may be issued.

V. Referees: Games are officiated by licensed referees approved by the Board of Directors. Referees fill out and submit player card with game report for any player recieving a red card. Referees are not allowed to socialize with a team after a match. Once the game is completed, the referees are to leave the area or prepare for the next contest with a minimum of interaction with the teams previous game.

VI. Penalties and Fines: Teams will be fined for red cards ($25-$100). Length of player suspensions are based upon severity of offense and quantity of cards recieved during the season.
